The hidden tower

In ancient times, the Lisbon's Castle was surrounded and protected by two walls: the oldest was the wall Moura (or Old) and the second was the wall Nova (or Fernandina). One of the main access of the wall Moura was in the modern Martim Moniz Square, site of an intense battle between the Christian knights and the Islamic troops. Of this battle, today, no trace remains ...
almost ...!

Lisbon is a city full of mysteries and surprises, where ancient and forgotten stories are linked with contemporary issues and events. Come with us to hear the story of the city's reconquest and the modern problems of the multicultural neighborhoods.

Feira da Ladra

The "Feira da Ladra", is a flea market, an open-air bazaar where you can find everything, absolutely everything.

The local markets have always been quite popular in Lisbon, since ancient times, due to the geographical position of the city, moving from one district to another wasn't so simple. Even today, in many districts, are quite popular the "weekly markets".

But why "Feira da Ladra" is so special? Because when you are there you can feel the sensation of going back in time ... or at least that's how I imagine the sea's markets of the past centuries: disorganized, with every kind of goods and people trading on the price in a thousand different languages.

All immersed in the spectacular setting of Alfama and Graça, among ancient buildings of many colors, the Pantheon and the Monastery of São Vicente de Fora.

Street Art

In Lisbon the street art isn't only protected, but sometimes even encouraged! For example, in this street of the city center, the artists have panels on which they can paint their works and, every six months, the panels are changed. In this way, the street artists are happy for the opportunity to show their works to the world and the municipality because the walls of the city are not dirty!

If you like street art choose to do the "street art tour", or ask us to include some streets, such as this, in your personal tour.

The miradouros are characteristic viewpoints of the Portuguese capital, in fact, many hills provide the perfect "base" for these artificial terraces from which you can dominate the city. The miradouros are many and not all are worth to be seen, depends on "what you want to see," if you want to drink "an aperitif" or just a cup of coffee, if you want to see the popular areas or the rich districts (etc).

So don't miss the tour "of the three miradouros" that, among ancient roads, amazing monuments, fountains and gardens, will show and tell you the tales of ancient history, and the current problems, of the 'bairros' (neighborhoods) more traditional .

Ginja Tour

It 's the aperitif time? The portuguese answer is Ginja. Of course, in Portugal, there isn't the "italian aperitif" (like the italians are used to do), but drinking a glass of ginja downtown, post-work, it is a fairly common practice.

But what is ginja?

Ginja, is a liqueur made of black cherry, or rather an infusion of sour cherry in (aguardente) alcohol with the addition of sugar, water and cinnamon. Say "Ginja" means to say everything and nothing in the same time, in fact every ginjeria (with its local homemade production) prepares its particular ginja. Ginja is a famous and traditional drink in Lisbon and so, especially in the area located between Martim Moniz, Rossio and Mouraria, there are many hidden ginjerias. Casually, many of them are in the same streets where Fado was born ... maybe alcohol and music go hand in hand.

The "Ginja Tour" can be easily done during any other tour you want to do in the city center and it is recommended for everyone, young and old, as long as you do not have to drive.

The Ginjinha Espinheira, do Eduardino, Rubi, are just some of the most famous ginjerias where it is absolutely necessary to go for see the beauty of the streets, for hear the historical curiosities, but above all ... for drink a ginja!
